LEADERSHIP POSITIONS FILLED AT UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION ANNUAL MEETING
Apple Valley, Minn. – Three volunteer leadership positions were filled at United Educators Credit Union's (UECU) Annual Meeting of the Membership on April 29, 2013.
Elections were held and George Peper of Willmar was re-elected to the UECU Board of Directors. Peper is a retired science teacher from the Willmar school district, and was re-appointed Board Chair. Jim Smola of Apple Valley was also elected to the Board of Directors. Smola is currently the President of Dakota County United Educators (DCUE). The Board of Directors sets the policies and direction of United Educators Credit Union.
Kathy Frisk of New Brighton was re-elected to the UECU's Supervisory Committee. This committee ensures the financial stability and soundness of the credit union through regular auditing of operational and accounting procedures.
All Directors and Supervisory Committee members are volunteer members of the credit union. This unique structure sets credit unions apart from other financial institutions – they are truly run by members for members.
In addition to the election, the meeting included 2012 highlights and fiscal review. President & CEO Delbert Danielson discussed the credit union's strong financial position and its longstanding commitment to serving Minnesota's education community.
United Educators Credit Union was established in 1957 and is a member-owned, member-operated, not-for-profit financial institution, providing financial services to the Minnesota education community, their families, and those who support education by being a part of the United Educators Foundation. United Educators Credit Union offers a full line of financial services, and currently operates branch locations in Apple Valley, Coon Rapids, Eden Prairie and Woodbury. In March 2013, BAUERFINANCIAL Inc. , awarded the United Educators Credit Union its five-star "SUPERIOR" rating for its 85th consecutive period, designating it as one of the safest credit unions in the United States. The prestigious Sustained Superiority Status is earned by fewer than 10% of the nation's credit unions.
