UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBER
Apple Valley, Minn. – United Educators Credit Union is pleased to announce that James Smola was appointed to serve on the United Educators Credit Union's Board of Directors. He will fill an open position from a retirement until the credit union's annual meeting in April, 2013.
James Smola has been the president of Dakota County United Educators since 1985. "I am the believer in the importance of credit unions. I have been a credit union member since the late 1960s and believe the credit union philosophy supports my beliefs as a union member," said Smola.
All Directors and Supervisory Committee members are volunteer members of the credit union. This unique structure sets credit unions apart from other financial institutions – they are truly run by members for members.
United Educators Credit Union was established in 1957 and is a member-owned, member-operated, not-for-profit financial institution, providing financial services to the Minnesota education community, their families, and those who support education by being a part of the United Educators Foundation. United Educators Credit Union offers a full line of financial services, and currently operates branch locations in Apple Valley, Coon Rapids, Eden Prairie and Woodbury. In September 2012, BAUERFINANCIAL Inc. , awarded the United Educators Credit Union its five-star "SUPERIOR" rating for its 83rd consecutive period, designating it as one of the safest credit unions in the United States. The prestigious Sustained Superiority Status is earned by fewer than 10% of the nation's credit unions.
