GEORGE PEPER REPRESENTS UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION ON THE MINNESOTA TEACHER OF THE YEAR SELECTION COMMITTEE
Apple Valley, Minn. – George Peper, of Willmar, is participating on the Education Minnesota 2012 Minnesota Teacher of the Year selection committee. The committee consists of 22 community leaders from around the state. Peper is the Chairperson of United Educators Credit Union's Board of Directors and a retired teacher of the Willmar School District.
"I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to volunteer on this year's selection committee," said Peper. "As a representative of United Educators Credit Union and a teacher for the past 44 years, I'm thrilled to be given the chance to give back to my colleagues who all would be a great representative for the Teacher of the Year."
This year's program will name the 48th Annual Minnesota Teacher of the Year, celebrating the tradition and excellence of teaching in Minnesota. The Selection Committee has already narrowed down to 34 semifinalists from the original field of 111 candidates. Contenders include pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers, from public or private schools from across the state..
The 2012 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced Sunday, May 6, 2012 at The Northland Inn and Conference Center in Brooklyn Park. Education Minnesota organizes the program and United Educators Credit Union is a long time sponsor of the award.
