UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION AND WOODBURY MIDDLE SCHOOL'S HOLIDAY MITTEN AND HAT DRIVE COLLECTED OVER 220 WARM WINTER GARMETS
WOODBURY, Minn. – In the spirit of partnership and giving back for the holiday season, the Woodbury branch of United Educators Credit Union is thrilled to announce that their Holiday Mitten and Hat Drive with Woodbury Middle School collected over 220 items. The donations were split between Woodbury Elementary and St. Paul Indian Magnet School, and given to the schools in January to distribute to those children in need.
"It was great to work together with our school partner, to promote the awareness of children in need of warm winter garments in our community, said Jason Ledeboer, Woodbury Branch Supervisor. "We are so impressed by the students' generosity!" The WMS Student Council organized the school drive, and art students also created signs for the credit union office."
UECU and Woodbury Middle School have been business/school partners since 2008. The partnership involves bringing a variety of financial literacy speakers into the classrooms, joint fundraising ventures and mentoring programs. The partnership goal is to work together on projects and activities that will enhance the quality of education for WMS students, while improving skills critical to success in the workplace.
The Holiday Drive, which also took place at the credit union's other branch locations, collected over 500 mitten and hats in total benefiting six elementary schools.
