UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION MEETS WITH MINNESOTA REPRESENTATIVE BOB BARRETT AND KURT ZELLERS AT STATE CAPITOL
Constituents remind legislators of credit unions' local priorities

Apple Valley, Minn. – Representatives from United Educators Credit Union joined more than 150 credit union professionals and volunteers from around the state for a day at the Capitol in February. During this annual event, Becky Reule, Vice President of Operations & Risk, and Andrea Molnau, Vice President of Marketing, met with elected officials to inform them about the positive impact the credit union has on the Minnesota education community and those who support education.

In their meetings with Speaker of the House Kurt Zellers and Representative Bob Barrett, Reule and Molnau highlighted the fact that UECU is a local and trusted financial institution dedicated to helping their members as they work through the recession. They stressed the fact that credit unions are different and how important it is to preserve the uniqueness of the not-for-profit financial institutions.

"Legislators Barrett and Zellers were very supportive of credit unions and understood the unique challenges Minnesota credit unions are facing today," said Reule. "We appreciate the opportunity to build a solid working relationship with our elected officials and look forward to their support on credit union issues in the future."

Keynoting the event was Minnesota Department of Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman, who was recently appointed to the position. Rothman outlined the Department of Commerce's current priorities and stressed credit unions' role in helping the agency meet these initiatives.

"Credit unions are critical to the economy. Your success is the success of our families, small businesses, and the local economy," Rothman said.

UECU continually works to serve its members by providing quality, professional service and advocating on their behalf at both the State and the Nation's Capitols.

United Educators Credit Union was established in 1957 and is a member-owned, member-operated, not-for-profit financial institution, providing financial services to the Minnesota education community, their families, and those who support education by being a part of the United Educators Foundation.
