LOCAL CREDIT UNION PARTNERED WITH NORMANDALE HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO CELEBRATE YOUTH AND SAVING
Eden Prairie, Minn. – United Educators Credit Union and Normandale Hills Elementary School shined the spotlight on how young people earn, spend, save, and manage their money with National Credit Union Youth Week. The 2011 Youth Week theme was 'Money Rock$ at My Credit Union,' which presented the opportunity to create learning activities that incorporated music and financial education into the Normandale Hills students curriculum. Activities began in late April and continued into May.
With the assisted effort of Normandale Hills principal Andy Vollmuth, UECU enlisted the talents of music teacher, Jeff Zupfer. Mr. Z created a jingle entitled, 'Money Rock$.' He produced a cd of his jingle and teachers were asked to create a way to show how 'Money Rock$' at their credit union. A wide variety of creativity was displayed by teachers and their students ranging from music videos to picture montages depicting each line of the jingle's lyrics. A certificate of participation was awarded to all students with a message to parents about the purpose of credit union youth week and United Educators Credit Union. A special thank you was also given to Mr. Z for going 'above and beyond' and making youth week a great success.
"United Educators Credit Union is committed to preparing youth to be financially responsible," said Abby Bushlack, Eden Prairie Branch Supervisor. "The credit union's efforts would not be possible without the commitment of the Normandale Hills principal Andy Vollmuth, and teachers such as Mr. Z that go above and beyond."
