UNITED EDUCATORS CREDIT UNION AND NORMANDALE HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S HOLIDAY MITTEN AND HAT DRIVE COLLECTED 100 ITEMS OF WARM WINTER GARMENTS
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - In the spirit of partnership and of giving back for the holiday season, the Eden Prairie branch of United Educators Credit Union is thrilled to announce that their Holiday Mitten and Hat Drive collected 100 items for Normandale Hills Elementary School, Bloomington. The donations were given to the elementary school in January to distribute to those children in need.
"It was extremely rewarding to collect warm winter garments for the students at Normandale Hills Elementary School," said Abby Bushlack, Eden Prairie Branch Supervisor. "This is our partner school, and the branch staff and I know and work with these students on a regular basis. We are thrilled to know that students in need will be able to stay warm for the remaining winter months."
UECU and Normandale Hills Elementary School have been business/school partners since 2002, through the Prepare Bloomington program. The mission of the program is to enhance the quality of education in the Bloomington schools and the quality of the work force for businesses by establishing and maintaining high-caliber and creative partnerships between schools and businesses. To date, partnership highlights include a monthly Credit Union Day held every third Thursday of the month, credit union staff tutors, credit union volunteers assisting with school book fairs and carnivals, classroom speakers, joint fundraisers, and celebration activities for National Credit Union Youth Week and National Teacher and School Staff Appreciation Week.
The Holiday Drive, which also took place at the credit union's other branch locations, collected over 500 mitten and hats in total benefiting six elementary schools.
