Credit Union Employees Volunteer
UECU employees Terry Weber, Membership Development Director, and Nancy Brady, Sales & Service Director, volunteered as roundtable leaders at the annual District 196 Mini-Conference. The conference took place on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Rosemount Community Center, with approximately 200 high school sophomores and juniors in attendance.
The mini-conference exposes students to a variety of careers in the world of business and marketing. The meeting includes a key note speaker and then the students have the opportunity to visit six tables for 20 minutes each. During each table visit, the roundtable leaders discuss their career experience, the company or business they work for, what they do on a day-to-day basis, characteristics of successful people in their profession, and concluded with the students being allowed to ask the leaders questions.
The credit union's roundtable discussion, lead by Terry and Nancy, also included discussing the difference between credit unions and banks, how the students could benefit from credit union membership versus being a customer at a bank, and finished up with a test your credit union IQ cross-word puzzle.
