We qualify members for Bonus Checking on a monthly basis, the first business day of the month. If your combined average monthly deposit balance drops below $2,500 at the time of qualification, you will be transferred out of the Bonus Checking program. You will then have the option to re-qualify on a future qualification.
Youth Checking
In addition, members age 16 to 20 may take advantage of a Student checking account. The Student checking account is uniquely tailored for young adults, offering special features that help teach money management skills.
Other available checking benefits include:
- FREE Instant Cash & Check Debit Card. Make purchases at any merchant that accepts VISA debit cards or receive cash at all CIRRUS ATMs. Funds are taken directly from your checking account.
- Overdraft Line of Credit. Protect yourself from costly and embarrassing overdrafts with an overdraft line of credit. There is no fee for establishing an overdraft line of credit, but you must apply and be approved for this loan.
- Privilege Pay Discretionary Overdraft Courtesy. Instead of automatically returning a check for insufficient funds, we may pay your overdrafts up to a pre-determined limit.
- Direct deposit. When you sign up for direct deposit, your paycheck is automatically deposited into your checking account electronically on payday. Direct deposit is available from most school districts, many private employers, government agencies, and TRA.
- Automatic Payments. Electronic payment transfers from your account are available for loan payments, special account transfers, and other transactions.
- Solutions@HOME. Access your accounts online 24-hours a day seven-days a week with this free service. Check your balances, cleared checks, make transfers, pay bills, download transaction history to Quicken® or MS Money® using OFX (Open Financial Exchange), and more.
- CATHY 24-Hour Audio Teller. Use this free service to access your account 24 hours a day, seven days a week using any touch-tone phone. Hear balances and checks cleared, make transfers, pay bills and more.

The average monthly balance used to determine eligibility for Bonus checking includes Savings and Investment balances for one membership number. The checking account balance or joint account balances are not included.
ATM surcharge reimbursements must be initiated by the member. Receipts showing the surcharge must be received by a UECU staff member within the month following the surcharge (i.e.: surcharges occurring in April must be submitted for reimbursement by May 31.) Free check offer is 1 box per calendar year, and must be selected from the following styles: Econo Checks (ECDS), CU Liberty Image (LIDS), CU Burgundy Image (BIDS). |
