Student Loans

Financing your higher education can be a very confusing, (not to mention expensive) process. Your credit union is here to help. Just follow these steps:

  1. Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) to see if you qualify for a Federal Student Loan. You may obtain these forms from your high school guidance counselor, the financial aid office of the schools you have applied to or are planning to attend, or on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov Third Party Website. Mail these forms to the processor indicated on the application.
  2. The processor will mail you and the schools to which you have applied a Student Aid Report. The schools will then determine the financial aid for which you qualify for and notify you.
  3. Review your financial aid packages and determine the school you will attend. Now you may obtain your Federal Student Loans (Plus and Stafford) through United Educators Credit Union. Give the financial aid office our lender code: 830100.
  4. As a benefit to our members, we use Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation Third Party Website to service our federal student loans. You may contact them directly for rates, applications, and any questions you may have about the financial aid process. Their number is 800-366-0032. Please note: the loan applicant must be a member of the credit union in order to obtain a loan through United Educators and Great Lakes. Students may need to open a credit union membership in order to be eligible. Great Lakes will then service the entire Federal Student Loan process, including your application, funding, and loan repayment.

If you are unable to qualify for a Federal Student Loan, or require additional financing for your higher education, United Educators Credit Union has a variety of other loan options - including an unsecured signature loan, signature line of credit, or home equity loan. Simply contact one of our loan officers in either credit union office. We'll help you find a solution.
