School Partners

Check out our Financial Literacy Activities.

Showing our commitment to the education community and the members we serve is an essential part of who we are. UECU has partnered with schools in the communities of our branches to work together on projects and activities that will support the efforts of faculty and students. In April we celebrate Financial Literacy Month in all partner schools to improve the financial literacy skills of the students and their parents. We recognize that financial literacy at a young age sets the ground work for financial savvy adults. School partners include: Aquila Elementary School, Eastview High School, Normandale Hills Elementary School, Sand Creek Elementary School, and Woodbury Middle School.

Aquila Elementary School, St. Louis Park, MN

UECU partnered with Aquila Elementary School in 2014. During financial literacy month in April of 2014, UECU hosted an event featuring Commissioner Mike Rothman from the Minnesota Department of Commerce reading a children's book to the students.

Eastview High School, Apple Valley, MN

The partnership was established in 2011. Activities include volunteering and class room speakers on sound money management, credit and other financial literacy topics.

Normandale Hills Elementary School, Bloomington, MN

The partnership started in 2002 through a Bloomington Chamber of Commerce initiative to partner businesses with Bloomington schools. Both staff and students have the opportunity to join the credit union. Partnership highlights include a monthly Credit Union Day, credit union staff volunteers, and classroom speakers.

Sand Creek Elementary School, Coon Rapids, MN

This partnership was established in Fall of 2012. The school is located just a few short miles from the UECU Coon Rapids branch. Sand Creek and UECU collaborate on a number of financial literacy efforts throughout the school year, including many classroom presentations. Additionally, UECU staff members assist with a school store for first graders that reinforces the concept of money and wise spending.

Woodbury Middle School, Woodbury, MN

UECU partnered with Woodbury Middle School in spring of 2008. To date, partnership highlights include branch tour, credit union volunteers for PTO activities, classroom speakers and collaboration on charity drives.
